Uno Party

Here are the kiddos, wild haired and ready for their big Uno birthday party tonight in the shirts I made them.  I thought I'd take some photos while they were still clean.  That's right, thinking ahead. Petra turned one on Tuesday and Corbin turns 4 on Tuesday. So, either before they care or to get them used to it (haven't decided yet) we're doing a double party. I saw the idea for an Uno party at the Made blog and thought it would be perfect. I also used her 90 minute shirt tutorial and freezer paper stenciling technique to make the shirts.  Corbo's all time favorite color is green, so he's a green four. And well, Pete is Uno. More from the party after it happens. :) I should probably go make cupcakes instead of posting this right now.

  2. Haha, I didn't even come up with new ideas. But why mess with things that are already awesome?

  7. Lauren, how did the freezer paper stenciling go? I've been thinking about trying it. Was it hard to cut them out?
Corbin looks like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory in these pics. And Petey looks adorable as always. Love the shirts, great job :) It's me Ashley btw

  8. The stenciling was a breeze. I used an exacto knife and my cutting mat and it was super simple... I got a little careless on the Uno shirt and had to fix a couple of spots, but I can't even draw a straight line, so it'll be easier for people who are a little steadier of hand than me. You're right, haha... he does look like Sheldon. So funny... I love it. Thanks Ash. :)

  10. Glad you were there. Haha, yeah, I'd sell them if I wanted problems with Mattel... or maybe I could. I'm not familiar with copyright law.

  11. Hey, I don't know if you saw my tweet to you... I dont know how that works with the tagging and whatnot, but anyway... I was so excited cause I found this organization today http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/blog/ and thought of you and I was thinking, wouldn't it be fun to do a sewing night at estat and make a bunch of these dresses together? we could even advertise it in the Times so that anyone who wanted to could join us. Something like that anyway, I think it would be great :) Let me know what you think and if you'd want to organize something like that... or I'd be happy just to have a sewing night at your place just the two of us or whatever. I just think it's a great thing and so simple too!

  12. OK, I love it. When I get home from Seattle, let's plan this. I like pillowcase dresses. I like to make them with better straps, though, like the ones on this dress: http://thebiggreengiraffe.blogspot.com/2009/06/20-gingham-dress.html

  13. I agree, I wasn't impressed with their patter, but they said you could do your own thing with it too. I love pillowcase dresses and I would love to make some for this cause. Definitely get in touch with me when you'd like to plan this. <3

  14. Hi Lauren! I would love the scanned copies of your UNO cards for my son's upcoming UNO 1st birthday party. Any chance you can email them to me at idnu01@yahoo.com? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
